The Scorpion EXO-R2000 helmet may just be the finest value in motorcycle race helmets Motowearhouse has ever seen. Scorpion’s top-of-the-line racing helmet is truly an outstanding example of a helmet that combines advanced features and cutting edge technology at a popular price point. Seriously, it is that good!
Scorpion worked with MotoGP racers Alvaro Bautista, Héctor Barberá and Alexis Masbou to re-think every aspect of motorcycle helmet design and what they’ve come up with is something truly special. The build quality, comfort, ventilation and the overall feature set make the Scorpion EXO-R2000 a leading contender in the premium helmet market. You may be skeptical that Scorpion is in this league at all, as they are known for making great helmets with a lot features for under $200 such as the EXO-R410 or the EXO-R710. Please have an open mind, this not just another EXO series helmet. Once you start to study the details, Motowearhouse believes that you will be thoroughly impressed. And the best part may just be that all of this can be your’s at just $299.95, which is an insane bargain for this type of helmet.
Lets begin with one of most common considerations a rider has when buying a premium helmet: fit.
The Scorpion EXO-R2000 helmet comes in 4 shell sizes and 6 EPS liners. This make for a precise fit. The helmet also includes the Scorpion “AirFit” inflatable cheek pad system, all of which mean a more personalized fit than their previous helmet for many owners. (It’s rare to find as many as four different shell sizes in a helmet at this price range. Scorpion also claims that the outer shell dimension is the most compact in the industry.) Of course the fit will not be perfect for every rider but being that it is an intermediate oval design, odds are in your favor of it being comfortable. Now please remember that this is a helmet designed for racers, so it does fit very snugly. Also, there is a special neck roll pad to reduce wind noise (you will notice that there is a very small opening when inserting your head into the helmet) The EXO-R2000 also has specially designed contoured cheek pads that fit more comfortably and accommodate eyeglasses. The cheek pads have 6 layers of foam and are 3D sculpted to fit precisely and comfortably. They also have an open ventilated backing rather than a piece of solid plastic, which allows the sweat to evaporate. This is very effective as this all works in conjunction with the KwikWick II liner material that is not just moisture wicking but also anti-microbial.
The EXO-R2000 uses Scorpion TCT which is an acronym for “Thermodynamic Composite Technology”, a shell material also utilized on helmets like the EXO-T1200. TCT consists of five layers of fiberglass, Aramid and other fibers, making this a very light helmet, especially considering the EXO-R2000 carries a Snell M2015 rating.
The ElipTec face shield pivot system has a very solid and smooth feel. The system pulls the shield evenly back 7.4mm ensuring a tight seal around the helmet eye port while the advanced aero-tuned ventilation system produces a generous amount of airflow and circulation throughout the helmet. The EXO-R2000 comes with a clear anti-fog face shield installed and a dark smoke anti-fog face shield is included in the box also, which increases the value as this extra shield is a $40.00 bonus! Lastly, just to make the helmet a little bit cooler than your friend’s helmet, the EXO-R2000 has titanium D-rings on the chin strap.
If you get the opportunity to see the EXO-R2000 in person, you’ll probably start to wonder what the extra $300-$400 for those high-end racing helmets really buys you.
